Sedley’s history

Sedley grew up along a Canadian Pacific Railway branch line, which helped bring settlers to the area. The village lies about 40 kilometres southeast of Regina, at the crossing of Highway 33 and Highway 620, in the Rural Municipality of Francis No. 127.

Sedley incorporated as a village on August 3, 1907. It was named for Sedley Blanchard, a lawyer.

Today the village sits in a wheat-producing agricultural district, with Wascana Creek running just west of Highway 33. Sedley is the hometown of hockey player and Olympian Kelly Bechard and of broadcaster Carol Morin.
